Stephanie and George had both given up on love before they met, but separately, friends had encouraged them to be open to the possibility of a good and healthy relationship. During our first meeting, they shared about their instant connection and how theirs differed from anything they had previously experienced.

Throughout the first 15 months of their relationship, they faced adversity: a cross-country move, unemployment, and Steph had a brain hematoma, three cranial surgeries, and of course, the pandemic.

Stephanie and George married in December 2021 at the Boston Athenaeum with a small group of guests. Her father, Arnold, was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and Steph wanted him to witness her get married. Less than a year later, Arnold was still with us when they held their larger wedding celebration at the Langham, Boston.

Theirs was a sober wedding. They have 13 years of recovery combined and were interested in interacting with their guests' fullest and best selves. There was no first look, wedding party, cake cutting, or ceremony. There was plenty of conversation among family and friends, planned and impromptu toasts, great food, and dancing.
