Andrea and Jesse are long-time personal friends of mine. Jesse and I met many years ago when he and I were covering a breaking news story that drew many news outlets to Connecticut. Andrea is a photo editor for ProPublica, and co-founder of Diversify Photo. We first met at the Alexia Foundation judging at Syracuse University. She was a student at the time and was developing her sensibilities as a photographer and editor. A few years ago, she and I collaborated on a beautifully complicated exhibition with Open Society Foundations and Photoville. It involved a project of mine on substance use disorder. The exhibit's premise was her brainchild.

They're extraordinary people who approach life and work with compassion and thoughtfulness. I can't say enough about them.

Photographing a wedding for a photographer and an editor is a tall order. Their visual literacy is of the highest level, so it's a real trip to create pictures for two creatives and two people I care about very much. A photograph of the three of us at my wedding is very dear to me. My back is to the camera, Jesse faces me with a smile, and Andrea gently touches my face. It's a tender moment and carries so much meaning that it's a part of the wedding album I made for Amy and me.

Andrea and Jesse threw a party at their home in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, creating a space that celebrated their love and the relationships that are dearest to them. I'm so grateful to know the two of you. Thank you for trusting me to make these pictures for you.
